The festival of Diwali or Deepawali, also known as the festival of lights, is 
celebrated on the 'Amaavas' (no moon day) of 'Kartik' (October or November according 
to the Gregorian calendar). In 2021, it will be on 4th November 2021. This festival 
is celebrated across India in different ways and for different reasons. This talk 
will shed light on the historical facts of this festival, how it is celebrated and 
some underlying socio-economic reasons for it.
