About the Univesrity of Messina and its Department of Engineering
The University of Messina, known colloquially as UniME, is a state university located in Messina, Sicily, Italy. Founded in 1548 by Pope Paul III, it was the world's first Jesuit college, and today it is counted among the oldest universities in Italy. The Department of Engineering ("Dipartimento di Ingegneria") in its current incarnation was born in 2015 from the merger of the Department of Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Construction, Environmental and Applied Mathematics with the Department of Electronic, Chemical and Industrial Engineering. It is definitely a cutting edge department, whose new structure was inaugurated in 2005, guaranteeing a broad and articulated teaching offering, a intense research activity and strong ties with the territory.
